StudyLab School in Moscow is looking for native English-speaking teachers for a year-long project for the academic year 2017 - 2018. The job entails teaching subjects at primary and secondary schools in small groups, 5 days a week at a well-established school in Moscow.

 

 

Primary School (7-11 y.o.)

Headmaster

The Headmaster will be responsible for the extracurricular program of the School, represented by the subjects of Drama, Science, Math, Arts & Crafts and English as a Second Language. The lessons take place 5 days a week, last for 90 minutes and are held in small groups of 8-10 students. The goal for academic year 2017-2018 is to get the students speak English fluently so that next academic year 2018-2019 to introduce more subjects based on National Curriculum Program in England.

This position is ideal for professionals who have educational start-up experience, served as Founder Head before, demonstrate strong leadership skills, have a deep interest in dual-language education and have worked internatinally before. We are looking for a Headmaster to join our team no later than January 2018.

Core functions of the Headmaster are the following: :

  • Provide orientation, appraisal, development and leadership to the school faculty through trainings, staff meetings, observations, workshops
  • Ensure that teachers provide high-quality learning experience and supportive, collaborative work environment for children
  • Ensure that the curriculum is well-balanced between English language trainings and subject learning. Adapt and correct the curriculum if necessary
  • Assist teachers in the choice of study materials for lessons. Ensue that that library of the School is systematically developed to help teachers provide unique study experience.
  • Build a team of teachers with strong values and ethos
  • Particpate at recruitment of teachers for academic year 2018-2019

The Successful Candidate

The following characteristics of the Founder Head are particularly important:

  • An educational leader and self-starter, well-organised, energetic, team-oriented and dynamiс.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding in dual-language education and has an experience in preparing non-native English speakers for National Curriculum Program in England.
  • A keen interest in understanding different educational paradigms and ability to synthesize different approaches in order to create the optimal educational experience for students.
  • Exemplary communication skills.
  • A willingness to make a minimum of a two-year commitment to the position.
  • Passionate about building engaging, collaborative and innovative learning environments and programmes.
  • A good sense of humour would sometimes be useful!
  • The ability to speak Russian is a plus, but is not a requirement

Minimum requirements:

  • Higher education, PGCE and EFL qualifications are a must.
  • 5+ years of experience at senior leadership role.
  • Founder Head, educational start-up experience.
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Thorough understanding of the British curriculum.
  • Experience of working internationally.
Drama Teacher

This position is for those, who love working with children and have an experience in staging plays and performances.

Overview of role:

  • Teach Drama to groups of 8-10 students
  • Hold 3-4 classes per 90 mins per day
  • Produce 2 major plays per year
  • Prepare lessons in accordance with the curriculum

Requirements:

  • Degree in Drama or Theatre Arts 
  • Experience in working with children is a must 
  • Experience in working in a Drama school / club and staging performances 
  • Exemplary communication skills 
  • Sense of humor

EFL teaching qualifications and PGCE in Drama are welcomed

Head of Primary School

This position if for an “all-rounder” primary teacher to oversee the quality of education at the primary school and partially teach Math, Science, Arts & Crafts. The ratio between teaching and management will be approximately 10% to 90%.The English level of students may vary from elementary to pre-intermediate, therefore, experience in working at international colleges with non-native students is essential.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Primary Education, PGCE in Primary Education
  • EFL qualifications TEFL/TESOL
  • Experience in teaching non-native students
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Capacity to lead the team and set high academic standards in classroom

Functions:

  • Oversee the quality of teaching and learning at primary school
  • Teach primary students aged from 7-10 y.o. in small groups of 8-10
  • Evaluate academic results of students
  • Use a variety of online and print materials, apply games and activities in the classroom
  • Report to the Headmaster of the School
Math & Science Teacher

This position is for those, who have experience of teaching Math & Science to non-native students, because English level of our students may vary from elementary to intermediate.

Requirements:

  • Higher education in Math/Science from a reputable university
  • CELTA/TESOL/TEFL Certificates
  • Mastery in CLIL methodology, knowledge of Key Stage System
  • Experience of working in international colleges or with non-natives
  • PGCE

Core functions:

  • Teach students in groups of 8-10 students, 5 days a week
  • Regularly evaluate academic results of students
  • Use various online and offline study recourses, use games and activities in the classroom
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills
Arts & Crafts Teacher

This position is for an enthusiastic and creative person at primary school. The English level of students may vary from elementary to pre-intermediate, therefore, experience in working at international colleges with non-native students is essential.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Art & Design, Technology or Design & Manufacture
  • PGCE and EFL qualifications: TEFL, TESOL, CELTA
  • Experience in teaching at primary school
  • Background in color theory, design, sculpture, textiles and painting is essential
  • Artistic skills including oil painting, color mixing, watercoloring, drawing, clay, charcoal, ceramics and other crafts

Functions:

  • Teach primary students Arts & Crafts and Design & Technology in groups of 8-10
  • Help students develop creativity, imagination, ability to take risks, be resourceful, innovative and enterprising
  • Use a variety of art and craft materials
  • Prepare materials for the lessons

 

Secondary School (11 - 14 y.o.)

Math & Science Teacher

This position is for those, who have experience of teaching Math & Science to non-native students, because English level of our students may vary from elementary to intermediate.

Requirements:

  • Higher education in Math/Science from a reputable university
  • CELTA/TESOL/TEFL Certificates
  • Mastery in CLIL methodology, knowledge of Key Stage System
  • Experience of working in international colleges or with non-natives
  • PGCE

Core functions:

  • Teach students in groups of 8-10 students, 5 days a week
  • Regularly evaluate academic results of students
  • Use various online and offline study recourses, use games and activities in the classroom

Criteria

Qualification 

Higher education from a respectable university. PGCE diploma or Qualified Teacher Status. EFL qualification is a must: TEFL, TESOL, CELTA. Mastery in CLIL methodology is desirable.


Non-native speakers

Eager to work with children and teenagers for who English is not native language. Experience in working at international colleges with non-native speakers.


Team player

Ready to work and cooperate in a team of other teachers of the School and Director of Studies. Being ready to substitute a teacher who has fallen ill. You will spend a lot of time together, therefore openness and positive attitude are essential.
